Nuevo Retro Games is an independent video game developer that is dedicated to creating fun, rewarding games. Founded in 2005 in Salem, Massachusetts, the studio has since relocated and is now based in Gig Harbor, Washington, USA.

The founder of Nuevo Retro Games has been making games for a long time and playing them for even longer. Our goal is to develop games that are easy to pick up and play, with straightforward controls, and a depth of character that allow for both short and extended play. If you need to read a manual to play one of our games, we’ll feel like we failed.

Our games are handcrafted using state-of-the-art tools and outstanding production values.

The first game developed by Nuevo Retro Games was the well-received Crosswords DS, which was published by Nintendo® as part of their Touch! Generations® line of games. Crosswords DS received great reviews from major websites, including IGN (8.0/10.0 ‘Impressive’), Nintendo World Report (9/10) and GameDaily (8/10). It was also awarded ‘Nintendo DS Game of the Month: May 2008’ ‘DS: Best Puzzle Game 2008’ by IGN, as well as being included on their ‘Top 25 DS Games for Under $20’ list.

The studio's second title was Nintendo Presents: Crossword Collection, which was a localization of Crosswords DS, with an entirely new set of puzzles for the UK market.

Lava Loops is Nuevo Retro Games first self-published title. Originally developed back in 2005 as a browser game it was revisited as a possible contender along with a number of other game prototypes to launch the studio into the mobile market. What’s next? The team is currently busy working on new game concepts and looking forward to the coming months.
